In addition to horses, Jeffrey Wintersteen spent a good part of his life on the ski slopes, as an athlete and then as a coach. As a Freestyle athlete, he was a silver medalist at 1984 Junior World Championships, member of the 1990 World Championship Team and 1992 US Olympic Team. After his retirement as an athlete, Jeff graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver, receiving a degree in finance with an international emphasis and a minor in German. He returned to the US Ski Team in 1993 as a coach. He was promoted to Freestyle Head Coach at the beginning of the 2001 season. Jeff's coaching career produced numerous World Cup medals, 18 World Championship medals and 10 Olympic medals. In 2010  the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver the US Freestyle Team won 4 Olympic medals, the most ever won by a nation at a single Olympics in Freestyle Skiing.

Jeff has since turned his attention to the other passion of his life, the Arabian horse. A lifelong horseman, a gift from his parents, Jeff was an active part of his parent's Arabian farm Wintersteen Arabians established in 1992 in Elizabeth, Colorado. The Wintersteen's took their first trip to Poland in 1995. It was a turning point for the Wintersteen's, seeing beautiful horses that were all tested on the race track. Undefeated racehorse and Polish National Champion Stallion Europejczyk epitomized the experience, and galvanized Jeff's philosophy of the complete Arabian.

Jeff has been very involved in all aspects of breeding, showing and racing the family's horses. Jeff bred to Europejczyk in partnership with Wintersteen Arabians 1996 and the company name "WA Ventures Equine" was established. Jeff has shown horses at the Class A, Regional and National level. From a racing perspective, Jeff was granted his exercise license in 2000 and a trainer's license in 2002. The first race horse he saddled as a trainer was WA Pejczyk, the Europejczyk son from the partnership with his parents. Pejczyk was second his first out for Jeff, and won his next. Shortly after, Jeff purchased a bay two-year-old filly with those winnings. Brilliance SF would go on to race four seasons, carrying the blue and white Wintersteen silks to success in Colorado and Texas.

Jeff has represented clients from the US, Poland, Brazil, Australia, the Middle East and China. Many of these clients are through his long association with the Arabian Horse World. He continues to work with the Arabian Horse World on editorial, marketing assistance and numerous other projects. The Arabian Horse World is a multi media company that has been a leader internationally in Arabian promotions for over half a century. He also has a close relationship with the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona having ring mastered the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, the largest Arabian show in the world, as well as, the Breeders Final. Jeff was a proud part of the auction team for Pride of Poland, the premier Arabian auction in the world. Jeff has been in the ring since 2010, and worked with the predecessor Polish Prestige since 1999. Jeff continues to work with the parent company, POLTURF. Jeff also keeps current with racing, serving of the Colorado and Owners of Racing Arabians Board of Directors and is currently the Breed Registrar.
